Charles is an innovative lawyer, leader and lateral thinker. He can quickly see the "big picture", identify issues and creative solutions. He is a skilled negotiator, facilitating "win-win" solutions. Business activities in London, Brussels, France, Italy, the United States, South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia have developed international experience, contacts and legal opportunities which are of considerable benefit to clients. 

Since commencing legal practice in 1976, Charles has gained wide experience in many facets of law, now specialising in trusts, tax, farm succession planning, business and company law work. Asset protection, tax, succession and strategic planning (for wealth creation) are included in the total solutions approach to meet the requirement of each client. 

Charles has a reputation for quality advice and documentation. Appearances in the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court, Taxation Review Authority, Family Court and various Tribunals have given Charles a keen understanding of all facets law. 

Charles is a full member of the London based Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners, the Institute of Directors and New Zealand Law Society. He has been a director of many companies and held many trusteeships. Charles has also been a speaker at many seminars on trusts and has presented papers for the Law Society, Institute of Chartered Accountants conferences/seminars and at International conferences.

Judy was appointed an Associate to Fletcher Law on 1 December 2006. She graduated from the University of Waikato with an honours degree in law, joining Fletcher Law in 2003.

Fluent in Spanish, Maori and English, Judy has great communication skills.

Judy works with Charles on most major transactions and directs the property section of the firm, ensuring that every transaction is completed efficiently and on due date. 

Judy also works with senior litigation barristers and Queens Counsel, supporting clients litigation needs or requirements - including appearing in the District Court, Environment Court and High Court.  



Shaghil Hasan  BE Com (Electronic Commerce), LL.B - Barrister & SolicitorShaghil Hasan

Shaghil completed his law degree at Waikato University in 2007 and is fluent in English and Hindi.

Admitted to the bar as a Barrister and Solicitor (4 July 2008), Shaghil has joined Fletcher Law to work with Judy and Charles, assisting with all aspects of property conveyancing including bank securities. Shaghil is married, to an Accountant employed with BDO Spicers, and plans to learn as many of the skills relating to trusts, tax and the law so as to become one of the best lawyers providing asset protection, succession planing and tax planning advice in the Waikato.




Dushan Delic - Law Clerk (almost a real lawyer)Dushan Delic

Dushan completed his law degree at the University of Otago in 2009 and has joined the civil litigation team at Fletcher Law.

Dushan is fluent in all Slavic languages and, like his lawyer mother, is keen to make a special contribution to the legal profession. He is passionate about his role at Fletcher Law, supporting Charles and Judy and their team of specialist Barristers.

Nikki ensures the smooth running of the accounting section of the firm, managing all financial settlements and interest bearing deposits for clients. As our longest serving staff member, Nikki personally knows most of our clients and ensures the maintenance of our high levels of personal service. Nikki has had many years experience in law offices and has completed training in all of the requirements for Trust Account administration run by the New Zealand Law Society and its Audit personal. 





Roxy Goodman - PA and Legal SecretaryRoxy Goodman

Roxy is an experienced PA and secretary. She assists Charles and Judy with their work and file management.

Clients will often have Roxy working in the background for them and she will be able to answer most queries on progress with a current file.

Danielle has a Diploma in Business Administration and expects to complete her qualification as a registered Legal Executive in late 2008. She briefly worked with us until taking her OE in Europe (where she worked in a large law firm and had other fun experiences during 2005-2006).  Danielle is our front office contact and looks after all client interaction with our legal team.

Danielle is our Trusts Adminstrator, completes most of the gifting requirements for clients who have an annual gifting program and provides support for our entire team.



Dr Steven Joynes  B.Sc (Hons), PhD (Engineering), Dip Man Stud, AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) - Trust Asset ManagerSteve Joynes

Steve is supports Fletcher Law as a Trust Asset Manager. He was born in England and moved to NZ in 1990 to marry a kiwi from Cambridge.  Trained as a civil engineer he has Ph.D in computational hydraulics (Engineering) he ran his own business in NZ for 13 years. As a private investor Steven understands the prudent investment management approach and his enthusiasm is now focused on analyzing money flows for investment in property, fixed deposits, equities and shares.   Steve is one of NZ's first accredited investment fiduciaries (through the University of Pittsburg).  He has worked with a number of accountancy and law firms throughout the the North Island bringing the prudent practices to reality. In 2006 Steve joined Fletcher Law to assist clients to make more from their investments and lifestyle aspirations and now provides that support on a contract basis. Currently Steve is available for client consultation appointments on Mondays and Thursdays. 



Leanne Silvester - Qualified Legal ExecutiveLeanne Silvester

Leanne has worked with Charles - taking breaks for family and her dairy farming business - since 1990. She works part-time with Fletcher Law as a qualified Legal Executive, providing valuable assistance with trust work and property transactions.
